We've arrived!

Today we're experiencing true Puget Sound weather... dreary and rainy.  Fortunately, yesterday was actually sunny in Dupont, so we took a little driving tour of Dupont and surrounding areas, bought the obligatory Starbucks (twice) and did a little shopping at the PX on post.

Dupont is such a cute little town with approximately 8,000 inhabitants and a playground at every major intersection.  There isn't a single grocery store, hardware store, or basic pharmacy, but they have a tanning salon and two coffee places.  There is also no shortage of asian restaurants.... 4 of them, to be exact.  Go figure.

Although we can see Puget Sound from our back porch, there is a golf course and railroad tracks blocking access.  Yesterday, the three of us drove through the next town over.  Steilacoom is a cute little beach town - sans beach - complete with a biker bar, a couple of churches, and a handful of hotel/restaurants.  The central attraction in Steilacoom is ferry access to Gig Harbor, Tacoma proper, and what looks like Olympia National Park (the mountain range to our west on the other side of the sound).

The movers have 14 days to transport our belongings, so while Patrick is finishing his in-processing Hayden and I are hanging out in our big empty place waiting for a variety of furniture deliveries.   At least Dupont has about 5 different trails to explore.  Once the weather brightens a little, maybe Hayden and I can actually get out and about.  Either that or I will just have to adapt my definition of "decent weather".
